Friday!

I had to go to the dentist so he could check on the infection in my tooth. The infection is still there so I am on another round of antibiotics. I will also have another dental appointment after spring break since the dentist can't finish the root canal until the infection is cleared up.

On the bright side, it's Friday and we leave for our trip to New Zealand tomorrow!

Noodle Restaurant

I went to my art class after dropping Katelyn off at preschool. After I picked her up, we went out to lunch with some of my Taiwanese friends. We ate at a Japanese ramen noodle place. The food was good. The area was known as Little Tokyo and had a Japanese grocery store and lots of Japanese restaurants and businesses.

Can’t Wait

Just a few more days and we are heading to New Zealand for spring break. I can’t wait!  The last few weeks have been super busy.  I am just looking forward to a few days of not having to sit in Jakarta traffic and not having to run the kids to all their activities.  Doss’ parents are coming too so the kids are excited to see their Granny and Grandpa. 

Joseph didn’t have official soccer practice scheduled today since neither one of the 2 coaches was available, but one of the dads showed up and coached the boys.  They had fun.  I was sure it was going to rain again during practice but it didn’t. It was a good practice.  Their next game isn’t until Joseph’s birthday which is a few weeks off still.

I tried to blog using my phone last night, but it wasn’t working so I gave up.  This post will have our pictures from yesterday and from today.

Joseph and Audrey had their usual Monday activities today. We also had a family in our ward over for dinner and FHE tonight. We had a nice visit and the kids had fun.

Busy

Yesterday was a super busy day so I just really didn’t have time to post pictures.  Joseph played in his last league game on Saturday. The game was at 9:30am but we had to leave at 8am because it was so far away.  The Dragons lost the game 7 to 1.  They played the British International School Team.  The BIS team was in a league of their own. To watch them play, there was no doubt as to why they were undefeated both last year and this year.  Doss said they were better than a lot of high school teams and these kids are under 8!  We were proud of the boys. They played hard and well.  At half time the score was just 2 to 1.  We knew they would be tired by the time 3rd quarter rolled around and they were.  The Dragons finished 3rd in the league behind the other Jakarta International School’s team.  They did good.  After the soccer game we went directly to the family fun fair since I was a volunteer for the slip-n-slide.  Then after we got home and showered since we were all wet from some of the activities and from the pouring rain, we headed to a friend’s house.  Doss watched 6 kids so that my friend and I could go to a RS activity.  The day did him in since he already was not feeling well.  By the time I got home, it was past 9pm.  I still had a talk to write for Church today.  I didn’t get to bed til late. Today, Doss wasn’t able to make it to Church so I spoke for 30 minutes!  I told a ridiculous number of stories, but oh well, at least I took up the right amount of time.  Joseph had to give a talk in Primary today too. I also played the piano for the ward choir. We have been busy!

Clinic

I had an appointment at the SOS clinic to have a root canal. They also x-rayed my other tooth that I thought might be causing my headache. It looks like my wisdom tooth might be a culprit. The dentist suggested I have the wisdom tooth removed. I will have to think about that one. Doss saw the doctor too since he has been sick.

Build Day

Today Audrey's class had build day where they put together things that "move" using a variety of materials. I brought some hot glue guns and went to help. Only one other parent showed up so I stayed longer than I was planning on. I didn't get a chance to go to my art class today. That's okay though. It was fun to help out.

Winding Down

Soccer is winding down. This Saturday is the final league match. After that is one final Greenfield Cup game sometime in April. The practices are going well and the boys are playing better. The final game is against the British International School Reds, currently ranked 1st. The Dragons moved up to 3rd place after last week's game. If they defeat BIS, the Dragons would be ranked 2nd. It seems unlikely since this team was undefeated last season and are undefeated so far this season. Still, I think it will be an exciting game.

Nyepi

Today was Nyepi, an Indonesian holiday. The kids had off from school and Doss had off from work. Joseph went to a friend's house for most of the day. The rest of us had lunch and met up with some friends to see the movie OZ, the Great and Powerful. It was a fun day.

Guess Who's 6?

Audrey is officially 6 years old. Time sure flies. She was so excited that today was her birthday. We let her open a gift before school.  She got a remote control dog.  After Doss got home from work, she opened her last gift.  She had been wanting a Lego castle set.

Long Nap

I took a long nap this afternoon. I didn't even wake up until 6:00pm. We had put the kids in their room for quiet time but apparently they kept coming in our room. I was out like a light and did not hear a thing. I think I could use a few more long naps :)

We had fajitas for dinner and Doss played board games with the kids while I called my family. The kids got to bed pretty late tonight so I think they will be nice and cranky tomorrow.

Sort of hard to see, but the back of this bus has a picture of Bob Marley, a Jamaican flag, and a Marijuana plant.  We saw the bus on the way home from church while we were stuck in traffic.  It made us laugh.

Too Busy

Audrey said she really wanted a birthday party this year. When I looked at the calendar, I realized that Saturday March 9 was the only day we had available this month. I sent out some email invitations and spent the last few days frantically getting everything ready on top of all the other things I normally have to do. Thursday night our printer broke so Friday morning I bought another one. Audrey worked hard to help me prep for the party. She wanted a Littlest Pet Shop themed party. We pulled it off and all the kids had a good time.

Joseph had a soccer game this morning before the party. They won 3-2. It was nice to see the boys play well and enjoy their win.

I was just too tired to post the last few days. I thought I better catch up before I just end up calling it quits if I get too far behind.

Library

We usually try to go to the school library on either Monday or Wednesday afternoons since we have time before afterschool activities begin. After the library visit, we went and hung out in the cafeteria. Joseph had soccer practice at 3:00pm and it rained again. Luckily the rain stopped so the kids didn't have to practice in the rain the whole time.

New Rule

The kids have turned into iPhone and iPad junkies so the new rule is that electronic devices will be used primarily during traveling. They might be used occasionally at other times but only at our discretion. It has been harder to do outdoor activities during the rainy season. Now that the rainy season is winding down, we are planning on taking the kids out more to swim, ride bikes, play tennis, play soccer, etc.

We had a set of Indonesian Elders over for dinner tonight. They asked if it was okay to bring an investigator. Doss had also invited a visitor from Church. I was worried we wouldn't have enough food but it all worked out. The investigator even shared a scripture and sang for us.

On Thursdays I normally go to an art class.  I started a new painting and this photo of a lotus that I found on the internet is what I am attempting to paint.  I took a photo of the photo...maybe that is cheating...oh well.

Doss and I have been in the process of applying for Katelyn to go to preschool in the fall.  Friday morning I took her to the clinic to update her shots and to get a TB test. I promised her some Littlest Pet Shop toys if she would be brave and not scream at the clinic.  She did really well and cried just a tiny bit after she got her shot. She was excited to get her toys.  I had also made caramel popcorn the night before as a snack for our trip to the doctor.  This picture is of Katelyn eating caramel popcorn after the visit to the clinic.  She was obviously not too scarred by the whole experience.

Joseph had another soccer game this morning.   All 10 players and the coach were present so the team posed for a picture.  I was supposed to be the photographer for the team photo but of course as soon as the parents figured out what was going on, all the moms were on the field snapping photos.  The kids were looking all different directions. This one came out pretty well all things considered. Sadly, the team lost their game 2-1.  They played an Indonesian school.  Those kids were really good and played well.
